About Komplex Records

The NEW Komplex Records is the partnership of longtime friends Roc and Dundada. They became partners as both feel a label which puts the content of its music above the sales numbers was needed in Hip Hop. Both have long roots in Hip Hop and the in's and out's of owning a label.

Roc began his career in Hip Hop in 1986 when he formed his 1st group with Rotten Robbie as the MC and Roc as the DJ. They made homemade tapes together using instrumentals as their beats. As the years passed both began to do production and in 1993 their demo was reviewed in the now defunct nationally distributed 4080 magazine. The two of them met Dundada who was doing music on his own during the mid 90’s through another longtime friend Raw Daddi. After several years Rotten Robbie and Roc decided to pursue music as solo artists. In 1997 Roc started his 1st record company, Most High Records. In 1998 the company released an EP which featured Pep Love of Hieroglyphics, Raw Daddi and a host of up and coming Emcees and Poets from the Bay Area. The album brought a lot of attention to Roc's Production and introduced him as a rapper himself. In 2002 Roc formed Komplex Records.  Komplex Record’s 1st official release was Roc’s Album (under the name Iroc) “The Paradox” which came in December of 2004.

Dundada produced and released an EP with his group 9livez under 9livez Entertainment in the early 2000's. He began shopping himself as a solo artist shortly after the release of that EP. After deciding that the Major Label route wasn't for him, at the end of 2006, Dundada released “Reloaded” again under his own label 9Livez Entertainment. This Album was almost entirely self produced and showcased Dundada as a solo artist.

In 2008 Dundada and Roc developed an equal partnership of Komplex Records and hit hip hop hard with their longtime friend Raw Daddi’s “Less is More” album. This album featured not only Dundada and Roc doing production but also featured beats from longtime friend Rotten Robbie. The gates have been opened and the flood of real Komplex hip hop is coming. Within the next year, the label will be releasing albums from Dundada, Roc and Rotten Robbie. All of which will be filled with what hip hop has been missing, conception based on quality not quantity, lyrics and beats.

Komplex Records has always taken pride in providing top-notch innovative Hip Hop Records by some of the best Emcees on the planet. We have learned through our commitment, experience, and expertise what the public wants to, and needs to hear.
